About

Ebert Family Farm seeks to establish a sustainable and diversified farm program that improves the land and the health of the involved community.

The Farm aims to provide nourishing food to consumers by farming with organic methods. The Farm strives to provide nutritionally high quality products at a fair price.

We have been aiming for the pinnacle of milk safety and nutritional quality since 2005. We believe in striving to produce the safest and most nutritious raw milk available. We have set ourselves apart by being a dairy that follows organic practices and chooses to feed zero grain, while rotationally grazing on native grass pasture. Therefore, we only milk once per day. Milk production is much lower, driving the price for milk up, but the cows are healthier and happier. Taste the difference yourself when you have a glass of our clean, delicious milk.

We offer the highest quality grass fed unpasteurized raw milk, grass fed beef, pastured pork and eggs from organically fed chickens. Our herd shareholders pick up their milk and other products from distribution sites around the Denver Metro area, and in Conifer, Castle Rock, Boulder, Longmont, and Loveland. We also serve the towns of Aurora, Wheatridge, Highlands Ranch. Beef and pork are available to the public by the quarter, side, or whole.

Farming Practices

Most of us have been trained throughout our lives that raw milk is not safe to drink. Consider this. Our digestive system is acidic. Grain fed cows have a more acidic digestive system as well. This is not true of cattle that are completely fed on a grass fed diet their entire lives. (We recommend reading “Why Grass Fed is Best” by Jo Robinson or visiting eatwild.com). When acid resistant, pathogenic bacteria from grain fed animals reaches your system, prepare to be very ill. If the same pathogenic bacteria from a grass-fed animal makes it into your food, it’s lack of acid resistance will produce it’s death in your system. This is why, in addition to the nutritional benefits, we feel it is important for raw dairies to be strictly grass fed. Please keep in mind however, studies show that this pathogenic bacteria is much less likely to be present in grass fed cattle in the first place.

In addition to milk, we produce eggs, pork, free-range chicken, and beef. Each is free of antibiotics and hormones. Our cows are raised on grass.

Our pigs enjoy a diet full of skim milk and organic grains. They live outside in the sun with room to root for bugs and roll in the mud. They are given access to 60 acres of farm ground where they can nibble on the volunteer plants and weeds growing there.

Our laying chickens are housed cage-free in a large open air building the greatly exceeds the recommended space needs for chickens. We used to allow them to roam freely around the farm but suffered too much loss to predators. We feed the chickens organic corn, organic flax, sunflowers, organic millet, organic oats, and organic alfalfa. They also receive hydroponically grown sprouts that are harvested daily. These provide a living food to the chickens as well as attract bugs for the chickens to eat.

Seasonally we have limited meat chickens available. These are given a similar grain ration and are moved daily around pasture in mobile chicken tractors.

Our beef come from the male offspring of our dairy cows. Jersey beef is not the most economical way to raise meat, they grow slower and yield less overall than traditional beef breeds. We believe this slower growth is a fair trade off for the sweet, clean, delicious flavor of the meat harvested. Our following of folks that re-order each year seems to confirm this.
