Farming Practices
We employ conventional growing practices at Spencer Farm. Our crops are not grown organically, and there are many reasons for that. Organic refers to growing produce without the use of genetically modified organisms or synthetic pesticides. There are three main reasons why we don't grow our crops to be labeled organic. They are location, quantity and quality. Instead, we use an Integrated pest management system which is a combination of cultural, mechanical, biological, and chemical controls to keep pests at bay.
